Used Honda - Fuel Cell Technology

March 15th, 2010

If you had told scientists just a few decades ago that the first hydrogen powered car would be out pretty early into the 21st Century, then I very much doubt that they would have believed you. After all, the idea is that this technology uses one of our most available and copious resources to essentially produce energy, where the only emissions are the water that then goes back into producing the energy. It is cyclical, revolutionary, and quite frankly incredible. It has also happened so absurdly fast that many people haven't even realised hydrogen fuel cell cars are available, which considering the publicity currently being given to all the less effective electric cars in the market, is quite a surprise.

Long-Distance Transport Contracts – the Ideal Job For Some

March 3rd, 2010

There are many reasons why people consider getting into the haulage industry: a life spent on the open road, the freedom of travelling around the country on various transport contracts, no need to spend all day in an office. But if you're thinking about getting involved in a career in long-distance haulage then you have to ask yourself one very important question: have you really got it in you? It's not all plain sailing, so here's a few things you might want to consider before your first transport contracts start to build up.

Long Hours Spent Alone

The Anatomy of a Traffic Jam

March 3rd, 2010

For commuters and those in the delivery and courier industry, traffic jams are part and parcel of the daily grind. But what are the causes of jams? Now there is scientific research to add to the anecdotal evidence of everyday drivers everywhere.

It's enough to make your heart sink. You're on the motorway when the all-too-familiar cascade of brake lights comes towards you. Before long, you're at a standstill. In this situation, you might feel for the trucker whose load is spoiling, or sympathise with the self-employed couriers whose jobs are nearing deadline; perhaps you'll just feel the perennial frustration of the commuter. But you will probably also start to wonder about the cause of the delay: could it be road works, an accident, a police speed check?

Does Filing Bankruptcy Kill Your Chance Of Getting Auto Financing?

March 3rd, 2010

The last few years have been rough ones in the United States. Millions have lost their homes and filed bankruptcy in an effort to get control of their debts. Bankruptcy raises a host of issues and one of the more interesting ones is how it impacts your ability to get a ride.

Bankruptcy is designed to give people and businesses a proverbial second chance when it comes to finances. One needs look no closer than the auto industry where two of the big three automakers have filed for protection in the last three years. This may sound like a vague sweeping statement, but it is a very important one. The point of bankruptcy is not to pound you into the ground from a financial perspective and this is reflected in the financing possibilities you will have.

Most people don't come out of the bankruptcy court with a lot of cash. This means getting financing is critical to buying certain basic needs. Transportation certainly qualifies, but how can you possibly get approved on a loan when you just destroyed your credit? The answer might surprise you.

We are only allowed to file for protection from our creditors every seven years. The key word in that sentence is seven. This word is vitally important because car loans are usually for five years or perhaps six in some situation. Both are obviously shorter than the seven year waiting period to seek court help again. As a result, lenders providing the money to you do not face the risk of being kicked into court.

All of this results in an odd thing. As long as you have a steady job, it can be pretty simple to get financing for a car or truck. Getting financing, however, does not mean you are getting good financing. While a lender may give you the money, it is going to charge you an arm and a leg for it. You need to carefully consider whether this makes sense for you financially. You just escaped many of your financial problems and probably really don't want to jump back into the fire!

Used Porsche - Brand Management

March 1st, 2010

Car dealers and manufacturers seem to be focusing more and more on the history and attitudes of its brand, rather than on the new cars. Obviously everyone still cares about the cars that are being produced, and the way they drive and looks, but extending the brand to mean more than just hunk of metal and wheels the automotive manufacturers are clearly hoping to extend the brand lifespan. After all, this year has been tough on the industry more than almost any other in the past, and brand management is fast becoming a really important part of the business.

Should You Sell That Car or Ship It?

February 27th, 2010

That is the question. Despite the ever-growing opportunities in the auto-shipping industry and the growing enthusiasm of the general public with these possibilities, not a few people find much of what the industry offers not worth either the money or the trouble, or both. This is only reasonable: the industry is a recent phenomenon, the competition in the market is fierce, and much of it does not so much offer affordable services as exploit the bloom and boom to convince you to make use of what you don't really need.

The Most Efficient GMC Cars of 2009

February 13th, 2010

Buying a new or used car or truck these days is about a lot more than choosing a favorite body style or selecting the perfect interior color. According to experts in the auto industry, fuel efficiency has become the number one concern for car buyers.

Unstable gas prices combined with the rising cost of living have Americans looking to cut expenses wherever they can. Fuel-efficient cars and trucks lower the cost of operating a vehicle by giving drivers the most bang for their buck. These types of vehicles get more miles to the gallon which reduces fuel consumption. Not only do fuel-efficient cars and trucks save money, they are easier on the environment which is another reason why more and more people are buying them.

GMC has become one of the nation's leading innovators in fuel efficiency, developing hybrid trucks and SUVs that can save more than $1,500 in fuel costs per year. A hybrid vehicle uses two or more separate power sources to move the vehicle. Most commonly, these are hybrid electric vehicles which combine an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors. Using two power sources, rather than just relying on gasoline, is what makes hybrid vehicles so cost-effective.

Here are just a few of the most efficient GM models of 2009:

GMC Sierra Hybrid

GMC says “work hard, tread lightly,” when it comes to this pick-up truck. The Sierra Hybrid is only offered in the roomy, crew-cab configuration with four full-size doors but it closely resembles the body style of the standard GMC Sierra. What makes this truck so different is its new powertrain which has garnered an EPA fuel economy rating of 21 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving and 22 mpg on the highway. A 300-volt nickel-metal-hydride battery pack stores electricity for the system, making it more fuel-efficient. This vehicle has 332 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque. The acceleration rate is very similar to that of the standard Sierra's 5.3-liter V-8. It also has a five-star crash rating. GM's patented two-mode hybrid system delivers a highly efficient performance in the Sierra Hybrid. It even features all-electric driving up to 30 miles per hour which offers fuel savings even if the truck is fully loaded and towing a trailer.

Yukon Hybrid

GMC did a good job of keeping this hybrid looking like the original Yukon. This nine-passenger SUV continues to be a favorite among full-size SUVs. The 2009 hybrid has had some aerodynamic changes but nothing major. Most people can't tell the difference between the new hybrid Yukon and the original body style. This SUV can tow up to 6,200 pounds but is 300 pounds lighter than the original. Aluminum has been used in the hood and front tailgate, a trick that increases fuel economy. A two-mode hybrid system allows one mode to assist the vehicle with slow, city driving and the other with highway driving. This system has reportedly made the Yukon hybrid 25 percent more fuel-efficient in combined city/highway driving and as much as 50 percent more fuel-efficient in city driving. Like the GMC Sierra Hybrid, it gets an average of 21 mpg/22 mpg for highway and city driving and has 332 horsepower. It has a 6.0-liter V-8.

Acadia

Although this GMC crossover SUV is not a hybrid, it is still considered a fuel-saving vehicle and one of the best in its class. Delivering 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, the mammoth Acadia is an eight-passenger vehicle with spacious interior, perfect for family and cargo transport. The 2009 model comes with a single powertrain, gets a 3.6L direct injection V6 that produces 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. It comes with safety features like the StabiliTrak stability control system which monitors traction control and automatic tire pressure monitoring. It also has anti-lock disc brakes and front and side curtain air bags, making it both efficient and safe. The Acadia has been named one of the “most handsome” vehicles with an elegant body style that appeals to those who love SUVs.At Robert Brogden.com Auto Plaza we have a large inventory of new and used cars in kansas. How Car Breakers Go Green

February 11th, 2010

Global warming is one of today's most hotly debated topics and vehicles are at the forefront of this debate. This is because there are an estimated 600 million vehicles in the world today and they are considered to be one of the largest contributors of carbon emissions.

The green issue has hit almost every type of industry and businesses are starting to look at their corporate responsibilities much more closely. Millions of pounds are being invested in innovation as companies strive to be more environmentally friendly. One industry that has been particularly keen to improve its green credentials is the car breakers industry. Companies in this industry break down old or existing vehicles for scrap metal and parts.

Driver’s Mate You Love to Hate

February 10th, 2010

Some people are heaven to drive with - other's can be hell! If you do self employed courier jobs, here are four kinds of people not to let near your van.

No van is complete without a driver's mate sitting in the passenger seat, and if you do self employed courier jobs and you have your own van, from time to time you may have a driver's mate occupying the front seat. Perhaps you want the company, perhaps you need help with some of your work, or maybe you're doing someone a favour and taking their son out to work.

Drivers Caught on Camera

February 10th, 2010

From trucks taking unusual turns on the motorway, to drivers packing a year's worth of delivery work onto one overloaded run, sometimes even the most practised road users get caught breaking the rules - or even breaking their vehicles.

Everyone who has ever driven a car will have an anecdote describing the idiocy of a fellow road user. It doesn't take much for the minority of drivers who behave poorly - or dangerously - to draw attention to themselves. Some of them are even caught on camera, and the Internet has now become a resource for people to show off the incidents that they have captured on camera. YouTube is full of car caper clips, from racing calamities to vans on a delivery working hard not to spill their loads at a sharp corner.
