Caring For a Psychologically Disturbed Cat

September 9th, 2009

Unless you buy a cat from a breeder, chances are your cat was a stray at some point in its life. Stray cats experience a variety of problems: no available FOOD, fights with other cats or other animals, a lack of shelter, pregnancy and birthing, or illness. Taking care of these cats is much more trying than take care of a cat that has had a safe home for its entire life.

Atopy in Cats

August 2nd, 2009

Atopy in cats is a genetic tendency in your pet to develop several types of allergic diseases and involves the capacity of their bodies to produce IgE in a response to common environmental proteins. An environmental protein could involve dust mites, mold, pollen, grass pollen, or FOOD allergies.

The term atopy is derived from the Greek word Atopos, which means out of place.
An atopic syndrome in your cat could be fatal is they experience a series of these reactions that could be triggered by the environment that they breath.
